The Venue

Wainwright House
260 Stuyvesant Avenue, Rye, NY 10580

The ceremony and reception will both take place here.

Good to Know

  • Cell service is poor throughout Rye, so please download your directions before you leave.
  • Wifi is available at the venue.
  • If you plan to Uber after the ceremony, we recommend booking your ride earlier in the day. Adding a tip ahead of time can help you get a driver faster.
  • It can be hard to get an Uber in Rye unless you are on wifi, so please book your ride while you are still at Wainwright House.
  • Phones will be silenced and put away during the ceremony.

Dress Code

Black Tie

For Men

  • A black tuxedo is preferred. The groom, groomsmen, and men in the immediate family will be in tuxedos
  • White dress shirt
  • Black patent or highly polished black dress shoes, black socks
  • Cufflinks and a pocket square are welcome

For Women

  • A floor-length evening gown is the classic choice
  • Have a dress you've always wanted to wear but worried it might be too much? This is the perfect occasion. There is no such thing as too much for this evening, so go for it
  • A very elegant formal dress or floor-length dressy separates are also welcome
  • The walk from the house to the ceremony is over regular grass, so stilettos may sink. Block heels, wedges, or dressy flats are best
  • Dinner is under a tent on a turf lawn
  • You're welcome to bring a change of shoes to dance in comfortably
  • Jewelry, a clutch, and a wrap for the evening air
  • Please avoid white, ivory, or cream
Early September in Rye is usually mild, but evenings near the water cool off. Bring a wrap or overcoat.

FAQ

Will children be at the wedding?

We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only celebration. Thank you for understanding.

Can I take photos?

There is no personal photography during the ceremony. All phones must be silenced and put away. If your phone is out in the ceremony photos, you will be edited out of them. Our photographer will capture everything.

Please RSVP by July 10, 2027, using the RSVP page.

What time should I arrive?

Cocktail hour is 4-5 pm, the ceremony is 5:30-6 pm, and the reception runs 6-11:30 pm. Please arrive in time to be seated before 5:30.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony is outdoors, dinner is tented on a turf lawn, and the dance floor and DJ are inside the house.

What if it rains?

If it rains, the ceremony will move under the tent. There is no change of venue and nothing extra to bring.

Where do I park?

There are 40 parking spots at the venue. Please carpool, especially if you rented a car. Cars cannot be left on site overnight.

Is there a shuttle?

Yes, from Wainwright House to the after party in Manhattan. It loads 11:20-11:35 pm and departs at 11:40 pm. There is no return shuttle to Rye. If you're going to the after party, please take an Uber rather than driving.

Where should I stay if I'm going to the after party?

The after party is late night in Manhattan. We recommend staying on the Upper East Side or in Midtown East to make late-night travel easier.

How do I get home at night?

Cell service is poor in Rye and rideshares are hard to get without wifi. Book your ride while connected to the venue wifi.

Can I bring a guest?

Your invitation lists exactly who is invited.

I have a dietary restriction or allergy.

Please note it on your RSVP and we'll pass it to the caterer.

Who do I contact with questions?

Please search this site first. If there is something you can't find or are unsure of, there are probably others who are confused as well. Please reach out to the bride so she can clarify to everyone on the website.

Going to the After Party, or Staying in Manhattan for the Weekend?

There is no return shuttle to Rye after the Manhattan after party, so many guests may prefer to stay in the city.

Taking the train? Stay near Grand Central Station. You can take the Metro-North train from Grand Central to Rye on the day of the wedding if you would rather not take an Uber. Please check the train times for your trip back, or schedule an Uber in advance. If drivers are slow to accept your ride, we recommend adding a tip up front.

Taking an Uber? Stay in Midtown East or on the Upper East Side, which are relatively close to Rye. Both put you near Central Park and the museums of Museum Mile, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim. You will also be close to Madison Avenue shopping and cafes, and the Roosevelt Island Tram.

Rates and distances are approximate; please check hotel websites for current availability. September is busy, so book early.
